The Aztec people dominated large parts of
Central America and present day
Mexico in the 14th to 16th centuries. My
personal favorite fact about the Aztecs is that they highly valued
chocolate. Cacao beans were actually used as
currency. One large tomato cost 1 cacao bean
while a rabbit cost 30. Montezuma was rumored to drink 50, count 'em, 50
cups of hot chocolate a day.
